Matthew 21-28 Notes

Matthew Chapters 21-28

Jesus’ disruption of the money changer’s practices within the temple…”My house will be called a house of prayer”…But you are making it a den of thieves

Have faith and do not doubt
Believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer

Parable of the Two Sons;
One says no; but then does what was asked of him
The other says yes; but never does what was asked of him
The one who did what was asked of him, even when he first reacted with disobedience, has done the father’s will

The Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation producing its fruit

For many are invited, but few are chosen

Give back to Caeser the things that are Caeser’s
Give back to God the things that are God’s

In the resurrection they neither marry nor are given marriage, but are like angels in heaven

Greatest command in the Law:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind
Second greatest command in the Law:
Love your neighbor as yourself
The Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands

Do not be called Rabbi
Do not call anyone on earth your father
Do not be called masters
The greatest among you will be your servant
Whoever exalts himself will be humbled
whoever humbles himself will be exalted

Important matters of the Law; Justice – Mercy – Faith

First clean yourselves from the inside, before cleaning the outside
Do not appear righteous on the outside…
…while inside there is hypocrisy and lawlessness

Beginning of Birth Pains:
Watch out that no deceives you [claiming to be the Messiah]
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars
Nation will rise up against nation
Kingdom will rise up against kingdom
Famines and earthquakes in various places

You will be handed over for persecution and killed
You will be hated by all nations because of Jesus’ name
Many will be offended-betray each other-hate each other
Many deceiving false prophets will rise up
Lawlessness will multiply, love of many will grow cold
Whoever endures to the end will be delivered
The Good News of the Kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world
Then the end will come

When you see the abomination that causes desolation standing in the holy place;
those in Judea must flee to the mountains
False prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders to lead astray

Immediately after the tribulation of those days;
The sun will be darkened
The moon will not shed its light
The stars will fall from the sky
The celestial powers will be shaken
The sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky
The Son of Man will be coming on the clouds of Heaven with power and great glory
The Son of Man will send out His angels with a loud trumpet
His angels will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other
[elect could be believers in Jesus]
When you see all these things, recognize that Jesus is near; at the door
No one knows the day or the hour; neither the angels in Heaven, nor the Son, Except the Father only

One will be taken, one will be left
Be alert!
Be ready!
The Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect

Be faithful and sensible
Give food at the proper time
Be found doing His work when Jesus comes
Do not be foolish
Do not be doing as the sinners do
Do not be found unprepared and not ready
Always be found doing the work Jesus called you to do as believers in Jesus;
You do not know when Jesus will arrive
Do not wait until the last moment; for it will be too late, the moment will have passed…as well as your opportunity

When the Son of Man comes with His angels;
Jesus will sit on His throne
All nations will be gathered before Jesus
Jesus will separate them one from another; righteous and unrighteous
Righteous on Right; Unrighteous on Left
On Right;
Are blessed by Jesus’ Father
Inherit the Kingdom
[They gave food to the hungry]
[They gave drink to the thirsty]
[They took in strangers]
[They clothed the naked]
[They took care of the sick]
[They visited prisoners]
[Do for your neighbor, you are doing for Jesus]
Placed into eternal life
On Left;
Told to depart
Are cursed
Placed into the eternal fire; Which was prepared for the devil and his angels
Placed into eternal punishment
[Did not give food to the hungry]
[Did not give drink to the thirsty]
[Did not take in strangers]
[Did not clothe the naked]
[Did not take care of the sick]
[Did not visit prisoners]
[Did not do for their neighbor, were not doing for Jesus]

Pray;
Not as I will, but as You will
Your will be done

The spirit is willing, the flesh is weak
All who take up a sword, will persih by a sword
Jesus was silent, did not defend himself when accused or attacked

Soldiers were told to spread a lie that Jesus’ disciples came during the night and stole Jesus while they were sleeping
This story has been spread among Jewish people to this day
