As I was reflecting upon thoughts floating through my mind, as I often do, conditions and contracts came forward. There are many areas where we have contracts, which always involve conditions.
In the bible there were contracts.
“Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land” (Leviticus 26:42).
“And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;” (Genesis 9:9)
“Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul” (1 Samuel 18:3).
“They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;” (Psalms 78:10)
We have a contract with our jobs and their is a condition. We agree to go to work on our scheduled days and remain for the contracted amount of hours. In return we are paid for those days and hours which we performed our job’s duties.
We have a contract with our home. Some may have a mortgage to pay on their home from the loan they received. You were granted money to purchase your home, now you must pay the money back in installments in order to keep your home. Also their is the contract with the home itself. One must clean and maintain the home, in order for the home to provide the same quality shelter as it first did upon your arrival.
There may also be contracts between people within the home. If I do the dishes, you will do the vacuuming and sweeping.
There are contracts with our automobiles. We were given money to purchase the automobile, providing we agree to make payments to return the money given with interest. In order to have a smooth running automobile, we must regularly maintain it.
Now there are contracts and conditions in Salvation in order to receive the gift of Grace, eternal life. We must believe that Jesus Christ , the one who knew no sin became all sin (took all of our past, present, and future sins upon himself), and died upon the cross after being tortured. He then arose from death upon the 3rd day and ascended into heaven, leaving with us the comforter (the Holy Spirit). If we believe this and turn from our wicked ways (repent of our sins), following God’s ways, we will have life-eternal in Heaven. However, if we do not believe in Christ Jesus and reject Him, we will also be rejected and not receive life-eternal in Heaven, but rather receive life-eternal in Hell.
This same thing is true with God’s blessings. He is unable to give us the blessings He has for us, if we are disobedient and not following His ways. Only when we follow His ways and obey His commands, are we able to receive the blessings of which He has for us. He is a just, fair, and merciful God. He loves us all very dearly and wishes that none of us may perish, but all may have everlasting life in Heaven with Him. He will never leave us, nor forsake us…for we all are His children.
It is us who want to do our own thing, reject Him and His ways, and follow other idols and Gods (which we have made on our own). Many things can be an Idol or False God to you; work, games, money, material items, alcohol, drugs, and the list is endless.
Let us follow the conditions which God has set out for us; let us agree to follow His ways, obey His commands, and love Him with all of our heart, mind, and soul.
