The first thing we do as we arise from our slumber, is to put on the armour of God. This will protect and prepare us for the day’s battle, which is ahead of us all.
“PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD, THAT YE MAY BE ABLE TO STAND AGAINST THE WILES OF THE DEVIL” (Ephesians 6:11)
“THE NIGHT IS FAR SPENT, THE DAY IS AT HAND: LET US THEREFORE CAST OFF THE WORKS OF DARKNESS, AND LET US PUT ON THE ARMOUR OF LIGHT” (Romans 13:12).
The things which we are battling against are not seen by the naked eye. Neither do we alone have the power to receive victory over them. For they do not use weapons as flesh and blood does in this world. It is a power of darkness that we fight against, only God can provide this victory.
“FOR WE WRESTLE NOT AGAINST FLESH AND BLOOD, BUT AGAINST PRINCIPALITIES, AGAINST POWERS, AGAINST THE RULERS OF DARKNESS OF THIS WORLD, AGAINST SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS IN HIGH PLACES” (Ephesians 6:12).
“(FOR THE WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE ARE NOT CARNAL, BUT MIGHTY THROUGH GOD TO THE PULLING DOWN OF STRONG HOLDS;)” (2 Corinthians 10:4)
In order to protect ourselves we must take on the armour of God, not our own armor.
“WHEREFORE TAKE UNTO YOU THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD, THAT YE MAY BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND IN THE EVIL DAY, AND HAVING DONE ALL TO STAND” (Ephesians 6:13).
“BUT LET US, WHO ARE OF THE DAY, BE SOBER, PUTTING ON THE BREASTPLATE OF FAITH AND LOVE; AND FOR AN HELMET, THE HOPE OF SALVATION” (1 Thessalonians 5:8).
Our loins are girt with truth, truth is held close and tight to our bodies that we may carry many other spiritual weapons. Our breastplate is righteousness; it covers our front, back, legs, and protects our vital areas.
“STAND THEREFORE, HAVING YOUR LOINS GIRT ABOUT WITH TRUTH, AND HAVING ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS;” (Ephesians 6:14)
Our feet are covered with the Gospel of Peace, it protects us against the things which we may walk upon as we spread the Gospel of Peace to all in our travels. It keeps us protected in our walk of those things which may be upon our path.
“AND YOUR FEET SHOD WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE;” (Ephesians 6:15)
Our faith is our shield, which protects us against things being hurled at us. Especially fiery darts, which can be in the form of evil thoughts, lusts, passions, and temptations. These fiery darts can destroy our home and our faith (if it is weak and penetratable and not made with strong materials). However, if your faith is strong and made of metal, not wood and leather, you will be able to use it to quench those fiery darts.
“ABOVE ALL, TAKING THE SHIELD OF FAITH, WHEREWITH YE SHALL BE ABLE TO QUENCH ALL THE FIERY DARTS OF THE WICKED” (Ephesians 6:16).
Our salvation, which is given to us by grace if we are willing to submit to it and believe in Jesus as our Savior and LORD, protects our head and thoughts within our head. The Word of God is our sword, which is used to destroy the enemy, causing the enemy to surrender.
“AND TAKE THE HELMET OF SALVATION, AND THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, WHICH IS THE WORD OF GOD:” (Ephesians 6:17)
“BY THE WORD OF TRUTH, BY THE POWER OF GOD, BY THE ARMOUR OF RIGHTEOUSNESS ON THE RIGHT HAND AND ON THE LEFT,” (2 Corinthians 6:7)
“PRAYING ALWAYS WITH ALL PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION IN THE SPIRIT, AND WATCHING THEREUNTO WITH ALL PERSEVERANCE AND SUPPLICATION FOR ALL SAINTS;” (Ephesians 6:18)
