False Teachers

Woe unto You, Scribes and Pharisees

Have you ever wondered how to know which teachers are true and which are false? The Bible tells us in 1 Timothy the items that make up a false teacher and what to look for in their characteristics. It also says that we should avoid and turn ourselves away from false teachers.

False Teachers are;

  • Rebellious against the truth

“If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;” -1 Timothy 6:3 [KJV]

  • Pride
  • Ignorance
  • Doting over questions of the law
  • Debating
  • Envy
  • Strifes over doctrines
  • Evil speakings
  • Suspicions

“He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,” -1 Timothy 6:4 [KJV]

  • Perverse and vain arguments
  • Rich in fallacies and doctrines of demons
  • Seeking personal gain

“Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.” -1 Timothy 6:5 [KJV]
