Have you said a prayer and received the answer speedily? Have you said a prayer and it took a little time before it was completed? Have you said a prayer and received more than what you requested? Have you said a prayer and did not receive what you desired?
When a person does not receive what they requested in their prayers, they are still receiving an answer to their prayers. The answer could be in the form of “No”, “Not right now”, or “I have something better for you”. We do not have the ability to see far into our future in along all the directional paths which are open to us. We cannot see what is waiting for us. However, God already knows what is ahead of us, He knows all the paths and where they will lead. God’s plan is meant for our good and to prosper us. He does not give us something that will harm us and will lead to destruction.
As I was thinking about answers to prayer and blessings which we receive from God, I thought of how it relates to children and their parents. Now a parent generally will give a child a gift or something that they desire if they have been obedient and basically displayed good behavior. However, if a child is disobedient and displays bad behavior, will a parent give that child a gift? I began to think how righteous our God is and how much He dislikes evil, disobedience, sin, and rebelliousness. Would God give us our heart’s desire if we were being disobedient, evil, sinful, or rebellious? I would think he would hold off on that gift or blessing until we developed a more righteous attitude and were willing to change what might be bad to good.
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them who ask him?” -Matthew 7:7-11 [KJV]
“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.” -Isaiah 1:19-20 [KJV]
2 Conditions of blessing:
If you be willing
If you be obedient
2 Conditions of cursing:
If you refuse
But if you rebel you shall be devoured by the sword of your enemies.

“And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” –Matthew 21:22 [KJV]
“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
-Mark 11:22-24 [KJV]
“Verily, Verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments.” -John 14:12-15 [KJV]
“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” -John 15:7 [KJV]
“And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.”
–1 John 3:22 [KJV]
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that , if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”
-1 John 5:13-15 [KJV]
